The Confirmation Ministry at First Church is a one-year journey for youth, 8th grade through 12th grade. The program helps them explore faith, ask questions, and prepare to affirm the promises of baptism. Together we engage scripture, connect faith to daily life, and grow into the joy and responsibility of Christian discipleship.
Guided by Rev. Ashley, with assistance from Kelsey and Rev. Adam, Patty, Deacons, Faith Formation members and youth leaders, confirmands take part in worship, service, learning, and conversation. The process is hands-on and rooted in community, showing that faith is not just personal but something we live together.
Each Confirmand has an adult mentor and a youth mentor to connect with on the journey. For our busy and gifted Confirmands and families, this offers us a way to meet the needs and schedules of the youth.
On Confirmation Sunday, typically the first Sunday in May, those who complete the program are invited to confirm their baptism. Through the laying on of hands, the congregation surrounds them with prayer and blessing, marking both a milestone of faith and the beginning of a lifelong journey of love and service.
