At First UCC, we believe that every person has gifts to share and that serving is one of the most meaningful ways to grow in faith. Volunteering is not just about filling a role or checking off a task. It is about being part of something larger than yourself, joining with others to build up the body of Christ, and making a real difference in the lives of those around you. Whether you are drawn to hospitality, worship, teaching, service, or justice, there is a place for you here.

We know life is busy and time is precious. That is why we offer a wide range of opportunities—some that take only a Sunday morning, others that invite you into deeper commitment. However much you are able to give, your presence and participation matter.

Volunteer to be a liturgist or usher

Serving on Sunday morning is a meaningful way to support the life of our church. Liturgists help lead worship by reading scripture and prayers. Ushers greet worshipers, hand out bulletins, and help everyone feel welcome and comfortable. Both roles are simple but essential for creating a spirit of hospitality in our sanctuary.

Consider hosting Coffee Hour

Coffee Hour is more than just coffee. It is one of the ways we build community each week. Hosting can be as simple as setting out snacks and making a pot of coffee, or as elaborate as baking a favorite treat. It is a wonderful ministry to share with a friend or small group, and it makes a big difference in helping people linger after worship and form deeper connections.

Emma Davis Medical Equipment Team

This ministry provides medical equipment such as walkers, wheelchairs, and crutches free of charge to those in need in our community. Volunteers help collect, clean, and maintain the equipment, as well as deliver items when necessary. It is a practical and compassionate way to serve, ensuring no one goes without what they need to live safely and with dignity.

Support our Youth Ministries

Our youth ministries thrive when adults and teens work together to nurture faith and community. There are many ways to get involved:

Sunday School Teams

Teachers share Bible stories and their own journeys with children, while high school students assist as role models. We also welcome substitutes to step in when needed. Parents are encouraged to teach for two years for each child they have in Sunday School.

Advisors and Mentors

Youth Group Advisors and Confirmation Mentors walk alongside teens, offering guidance, encouragement, and support in both faith and life. They help create safe spaces where young people can ask questions, explore their beliefs, and grow into the people God is calling them to be.

Nursery Helpers

Our nursery attendants care for our youngest children each Sunday. Helpers, especially parents, are needed to support them.

Host a Youth Dinner

Table fellowship builds strong community. Volunteers occasionally provide dinner for 30 to 40 youth and leaders, with plenty of support to make it manageable and fun.
