Let Us Worship Together

Rejoice, for God is among us. Give thanks, for in Christ we are a new people. Sing praise, for we come to worship God!

We worship in person at 8 AM and 10 AM during the School year and at 8 AM and 9:30 AM during the summer. Our 10 AM Worship Service is livestreamed through Local Live TV from our historic sanctuary. The worship is available (after Sunday) on our YouTube channel so that those who cannot attend on Sunday may worship. We like everyone continue to adjust and live in to the new norm of post-pandemic life.

See our Be the Church from Home page to learn more about how the church strives to reach all of God's children.

In-person and other worship opportunities are highlighted on our News & Events page

If you have any questions about any of our worship services, please give us a call at 203-877-4277.

Sunday Worship

We have two regular Sunday Worship services; a 45-minute Chapel Service at 8:00 AM in the Woodruff Chapel at 18 West Main Street, and a one-hour Sanctuary Service at 9:30 AM (10:00 AM during the school year) in the Meetinghouse at 34 West Main Street.

Both the Chapel and the Meetinghouse are handicapped accessible. Childcare and Sunday School are offered at the Sanctuary Service. [ more ]

Sacraments

First Church, part of the United Church of Christ, recognizes two sacraments: Baptism and Communion.  We believe that these were instituted by Jesus, according to Scripture. We share these outward and visible signs of God's grace during our public and shared worship experience.

We celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of each month. Baptisms often take place on the third Sunday of each month.

Special Services

When we gather for special worship services, we invite the Holy Spirit to be present and reveal God's grace. Through Confirmations, Weddings and Services of Remembrance, we are made aware of how important the support of the congregation is discerning and affirming our faith, in nurturing our relationships, in comforting us in our loss, and helping us to celebrate God's gift of life.
