Prodigal Son Journey

In the parable of the Prodigal Son, a son leaves behind his family, squanders his inheritance, and then realizes what exactly he lost. He returns to his family, uncertain of what their response will be. To his surprise, he is welcomed by his father with open arms and his return is celebrated. His elder brother, however, begrudges this welcome. The elder brother questions their father's response to the younger brother's return. The father responded, "...we had to celebrate and rejoice, because this brother of yours was dead and has come to life; he was lost and has been found."

When we lose sight of our faith, God is there to welcome us back, rejoicing, just as the father in this parable. Faith is a never-ending journey, and odds are each one of us will stray from time to time. God is there and will always be there.

For today's meditation - think about how you would tell the story of the Prodigal Son in a way that connects to our world today. What medium would your interpretation take?

Psalm 18:18-19
They confronted me in the day of my disaster,
but the Lord was my support.
He brought me out into a spacious place;
he rescued me because he delighted in me.
