Beth-El Center

Beth El Center is the primary outreach organization of the churches of Milford for the care of the hungry and the homeless in Milford and it is an important part of our Church's mission in the community.

The Beth El Center Board (whose current president, Marilyn Cormack, belongs to First Church) direct the work of its Food Kitchen, Pantry, Homeless Shelter, and other social service and advocacy programs.

As one of the founding churches of Beth El and currently a sponsoring faith community, First Church supports the shelter financially and in other ways.  In each month with five Saturdays, several members of our church gather at Beth El on that fifth Saturday to cook and serve lunch to dozens of people.

Our church has participated numerous times in Beth El Center's Walk for the Homeless, raising some years over $2,000 for its ministries.  Beth El has also been the recipient in recent years of freewill offerings from Interfaith Community Thanksgiving Eve services, which have been held at First Church. Beth El Center's No Freeze Shelter, which provides warmth, food and shelter for up to 8 people per night when the temperature drops below freezing.

Beth El Center is a wonderful example of what communities of faith working together can accomplish.
