Faith Formation

The Faith Formation Committee, chaired by John Haas, works all year to provide opportunities for faithful learning and formation to all ages of First Church's membership and friends. We believe that our ministries need to be current and applicable to those whom we serve, which means that we continue to evaluate and craft plans according to the lived experiences of the children, youth and adults of our church. We offer programs, studies, events and retreats for church members and friends who seek a deeper understanding and practice of our Faith.

Christian formation involves ongoing discernment of God's stillspeaking voice and practice of our faith. The Christian Education Tam encourages church members to listen for God's call, to discern one's Spiritual gifts, and to join us in ministry as teachers, event volunteers, and co-partners in sharing the living Gospel.

We maintain the Church Library, which is located on the second floor of the church. It has a wonderful collection of bibles, bible story books and children's books on a variety of topics: different religions, emotions, holidays and diversity. Of special interest to parents and teachers are books that deal with difficult issues for children such as loss and behavior. We have many resources for youth ministry. Our selections for advanced studies include biblical commentaries, concordances, references, and maps as well as books on devotions and Christian practice and history.
