The Faith Formation Committee, chaired by Tracy Hoppock, works all year to provide opportunities for faithful learning and formation to all ages of First Church's membership and friends.  We believe that our ministries need to be current and applicable to those whom we serve, which means that we continue to evaluate and craft plans according to the lived experiences of the children, youth and adults of our church.  We offer programs, studies, events and retreats for church members and friends who seek a deeper understanding and practice of our Faith.

Christian formation involves ongoing discernment of God's stillspeaking voice and practice of our faith.  The Christian Education Tam encourages church members to listen for God's call, to discern one's Spiritual gifts, and to join us in ministry as teachers, event volunteers, and co-partners in sharing the living Gospel.

Faith Formation Opportunities moving into 2017

We need some help in our ministry! We need a few more members and friends for our Team.
• Help us as a Sunday School Shaper—
This team of 5 will work with our great teachers and helpers, discern curriculum and special events, manage classroom supplies, create bulletin boards, etc. Speak with Jen Pietrowski to help.
• Adult Education Shaper—
help us plan meaningful adult faith formation opportunities from book studies to care workshops to retreats. Speak with Andrea Rochniak to get involved.
• Special Teams—
This group plans services & events such as Sunday School Celebration (April-June wk 1), Good Friday Worship, Easter, Fellowship Meals, Summer Programs (Vacation Bible School, SKP, etc.), Kick Off Sunday (August), Bible Sunday (October), Pageant (August & Nov-Dec) and Children's Worship (November & February). Even if you have a busy schedule, you can find a time that works or a favorite event. Speak with Tracy Hoppock to share how you can help.
• Other important ministry positions will help us communicate better with our young families when babies are baptized and send cards on special occasions.

Speak with Kelsey Gamble for more info.

We maintain the Church Library, which is located on the second floor of the church.   It has a wonderful collection of bibles, bible story books and children's books on a variety of topics: different religions, emotions, holidays and diversity.  Of special interest to parents and teachers are books that deal with difficult issues for children such as loss and behavior.  We have many resources for youth ministry.  Our selections for advanced studies include biblical commentaries, concordances, references, and maps as well as books on devotions and Christian practice and history.
