You've Found Us!

You're probably here because you wanted to know more about this inclusive, kid-nurturing, joyful, community partner church that you saw mentioned on a lawn sign.

We're so glad you want to learn about us and hope that you feel a spirit of welcome from First UCC Milford.

Inclusive
We are among the few churches in the area that has gone through an extensive, prayerful discernment and voted as a congregation to adopt an Open and Affirming statement. The statement can be found HERE.

We not only adopted a statement, but stand by that statement. Over the last five years we have embodied many dimensions of the diversity it calls for and advocated for a more inclusive society, whether it's through events or worship services related to LGBTQIA+ equality, racial justice, inclusion of children across cognitive and neurodiversity, or other forms of affirmation and embrace.

We know that people who are seeking faith community may be in different theological places, but we are inspired by Jesus to include everyone at the table.

Nurtures Kids & Children
First UCC Milford stands alone among the 'mainline' Protestant churches in Milford in our robust children and youth ministries. We offer free nursery care during Sanctuary worship each week, and through much of the year provide free Sunday school during Sanctuary worship. We gather kids for choirs and Youth Fellowship (4 & 5 grades) as well as, most weeks during the schoolyear, for Junior Pilgrim Fellowship (aka JPF, 6-8 grades) and Senior PF (9-12 grades). In youth groups the kids find widsom and faith through the example and guidance of adult advisors.
Kids help lead worship throughout the year, including our treasured Christmas pageant each December. Children and youth aren't the future of our church, they're the here and now!

Community Partner
You may not realize the ways First UCC Milford impacts the local community and region. We loan out walkers, wheelchairs, and other items through our Emma Davis Medical Equipment Ministry. We helped found and continue to support Beth El Center in its crucial mission for unhoused people. We give out more than one hundred bags of food each month through our Food Pantry.

And the award-winning MIlford Food 2 Kids, which supplies weekend food for more than 220 local kids each school weekend, and which has inspired the creation of similar programs in several Connecticut towns. Created by First UCC Milford and run by First UCC. We do all these things and more because we truly care about community.

Joyful!
Walk through the front doors of the Sanctuary or Chapel on a Sunday morning and you'll be greeted by joyful ushers and uplifting worship, because our church is grounded in a spirit of faithful joy. Between the hospitality, beautiful music, and engaging sermons of our pastors Revs. Adam and Ashley, we embody joy and hope every Sunday.

Another way of saying it is that we are an Easter people, who are grateful that God's love is stronger than the power of death.

In short, First UCC Milford is what many people imagine when they envision a constructive, upbuilding faith community!
