Minister of Christian Education Job Posting

F/T Minister of Christian Education, First UCC (Congregational), Milford, CT  First UCC (Congregational) Milford, a historic and forward-seeking congregation, seeks a full-time Minister of Christian Education (MCE). First UCC Milford is an inclusive, program-sized UCC church, committed to cultivating faith throughout the congregation. The MCE, traditionally a layperson, collaborates with CE Ministry, volunteers, pastors and other staff in leading faith formation ministries for all ages. We seek a candidate who can maintain strong ministries with their own vision of how God calls us to be transformed in Christian faith.

The appropriate candidate for this position will be an optimistic, spirited, adaptable, and creative person with a commitment to the Christian faith. Strong organizational skills, the ability to work with and empower people of all ages, and the gift to develop and execute plans are needed. We are looking for a candidate who can nurture and enhance our educational ministries and has a passion for working with youth. A degree in Education or religious studies is preferred, and at least 2 years paid or volunteer experience working with children in an educational setting.

Areas of responsibility:
* Administer the Sunday School program and Junior Pilgrim Fellowship (middle school youth group) including registration, attendance, training of leaders and teachers, selecting curriculum, encouraging participation and providing special programs;
* Direct Confirmation 1 program with Pastors and Deacons;
* Recruit and equip leaders for adult education opportunities;
* Be present on Sunday mornings and participate in Worship Services, with responsibility for Children's Message 2-3 times per month;
* Advocate for leaders (Sunday School teachers and adult education facilitators) at Committee meetings, Church Board and staff meetings and provide a brief written report to the board on a monthly basis;
* Offer occasional special programs for upper elementary age children;
* Keep regular office hours for availability to staff, teachers and parents;
* Convey information to Sunday School families and communicate with the congregation regarding faith formation programs through print and social media;
* Adhere to the congregation's by-laws and budget; develop a budget with CE committee;
* Abide by the church's Safe Conduct Policy, Staff Handbook, and the Church Educator's Code.

Annual salary starting at $36,000 based on experience; benefits negotiable.
